Dallas
Dallas has a number of regional publications that cater to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, the fifth-largest media market in the country, including local newspapers, magazines, television stations, and radio stations. The Dallas Morning News, the only significant daily newspaper in Dallas, was established by A. H. Belo in 1885 and serves as his flagship publication.
Before Belo bought the Dallas Times Herald on December 8, 1991, and shut it down the following day, the Dallas Times Herald, which was founded in 1888, was the Morning News' main rival. Other daily newspapers include a number of ethnic publications printed in languages like Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese, as well as Al Da, a Spanish-language newspaper published by Belo.
A well-known monthly publication covering business, daily life, and entertainment in Dallas-Fort Worth is called D Magazine. "WHERE Magazine" and "Travelhost" are two regional travel periodicals that can be found at hotel front desks or in guest rooms. Additionally, there are local newspapers in the park cities and suburbs like Plano. THE Magazine also covers the world of contemporary art.
High-power class A medium-wave stations KRLD and WBAP can broadcast as far as southern Canada at night and can be used for emergency messages when broadcasting is disrupted in other major American cities due to the city's central location and lack of nearby mountainous terrain.
